1.Introduction
        The fifth international annual conference of the Chinese Scholars Association for Management Science and Engineering (CSAMSE) will be held on June 30-July 1, 2012 at Nanjing University, Suzhou Campus, Suzhou, China.

        CSAMSE, formally the Chinese Scholars Association in Management Science and Engineering (CSAMSE, www.ocsamse.org), is a highly recognized and rapidly growing community of scholars, from both overseas and mainland China, in the field of Management Science and Engineering (MSE), who are united by a common interest to promote the communication between academia and industry and to improve management research and practice in China. In a short number of years, our annual conference has developed into a unique meeting place to understand the latest business developments in China and to keep abreast of the cutting edge research ideas in Management Science and Engineering.         The theme of the 2012 CSAMSE conference, In Search of Winning Operations Strategies, reflects the organizer’s desire to steer the conference to address the new challenges for our field and for the business operations in China. The conference invites scholars in MSE (broadly defined) from around the world to present their research on a wide range of topics, including but not limited to the following:

        As in the past, we will invite world-renown scholars and industry thought leaders to give keynote speeches and lead panel discussions. Although this is an ongoing process, we are pleased to announce that Professor Stephen Graves, Abraham J. Siegel Professor of Management Science, Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Systems at MIT and the current Editor-in-Chief of Manufacturing & Services Operations Management, will be a keynote speaker at the conference.

        In particular, the First CSAMSE Young Scholars Colloquium,  co-chaired by Professor Fuqiang Zhang (Washington University in St. Louis)  and Professor Rachel Chen (University of California, Davis), will take place at the Fifth  International Annual Conference of CSAMSE this year.  We cordially invite young scholars (assistant/associate professors and advanced doctoral students) to a colloquium that features panel discussions with leading academics who have extensive research and senior editorial experience, including Professor Stephen Graves, Abraham J. Siegel Professor of Management Science, at MIT and the current Editor-in-Chief of Manufacturing & Services Operations Management and Professor Fangruo Chen at Columbia University, the founding president of CSAMSE, and previous department editors for Management Science and Operations Research and other renown scholars. The purpose of this colloquium is to bring together young scholars in the field of Management Science and Operations Management to discuss the challenges they face in research and in the process of publishing in top-tier journals. To ensure the quality and the effectiveness of the colloquium, attendees are limited to 60 in total.  Pre-registration at the conference website which will be included in the conference registration page is required for the colloquium and seats are assigned on a first-come first-serve basis.
